Borrechel Fe increases tomato crop yield

Field demonstrations of soil application for tomato crops show the benefits of Borrechel Fe under alkaline soil conditions with high demand for iron micronutrient. Borrechel Fe provided similar tomato nutrient uptake and increased crop yield compared to EDTA.

A field study conducted by Syntech in Andalusia, Spain, compared a formulation with Borrechel Fe to formulations with synthetic chelate (EDTA). The soil in the greenhouse was sandy with a pH of 6.8 and 1.53 % organic matter. The fertilizer formulations were applied via drip irrigation weekly for 16 weeks.

Key takeaways:

  • The study demonstrated a 5.7% yield increase using Borrechel Fe vs EDTA.
  • Borrechel Fe provided similar micronutrient uptake to synthetic chelate under the alkaline soil conditions
  • Borrechel Fe provides additional organic matter, improving plant growth and tomato yield
