Geothermal Drilling Fluid Additives

One of the main challenges for drilling geothermal wells is the environmental aspect, as these are often drilled in sensitive areas. Borregaard’s bio-based BioDrill® products are ideal for use in environmentally friendly water-based geothermal drilling fluids. Based on non-toxic, non-water hazardous lignosulfonates, they offer sustainable alternatives to synthetic drilling fluid additives. All BioDrill products are compliant with REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006).

BioDrill FM400 

BioDrill FM400 is a sustainable, highly contaminant tolerant lignosulfonate-based HPHT fluid loss control additive that offers excellent performance at temperatures up to 205°C (400°F). 

BioDrill FM400 is classified as Water Hazard Class 1. BioDrill FM400 also meets the requirement of a chemically modified natural polymer, and hence is exempted from Registration and Evaluation in accordance with REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006).
