Leather Tanning Additives

Borregaard offers cost-effective, sustainable biopolymers for use in leather tanning. Our products can be used as dispersants and tanning agents in the leather industry, improving the penetration and uniformity of dyes and tanning agents.

The use of Borrebright and our other lignosulfonates in combination with vegetable or synthetic tanning formulations result in a better tan fixation and also improve the tightness, fullness, roundness and firmness of the leather. These products are highly versatile and can perform a variety of functions during pre-tanning, re-tanning and dyeing. They also improve the penetration in aqueous leather finishing and provide outstanding levelled dye shades and a consistent quality to the leather.

SoftAcid Tan V is less corrosive, safer to use and easier to handle than pure organic acids and represents an excellent alternative to formic acid.

Our additives are bio-based and seek to be the answer to the increasingly important trend of sustainable leather tanning.
